The Holder brothers from Urach founded a machine workshop back in 1888. In addition to the first automatic crop protection sprayer, single-axle motorized tillers and single-axle tractors, the Holder company also developed its first tractors in 1953. After several takeovers by other machine manufacturers, Holder was acquired in 2019 by Alfred Kärcher SE & Co. KG took over the company. Under the newly founded company Kärcher Municipal GmbH, tool carriers for the municipal sector are still manufactured today. We explain what sets Kärcher municipal technology apart.
Thinking of Kärcher, the first thing that comes to mind is almost certainly a wide range of cleaning products for the household. However, very few people know that the company also manufactures various vehicles. However, at the latest since the takeover of Holder, Kärcher is also known as a well-known manufacturer of tool carriers, especially for the municipal sector. In the field of municipal technology, Kärcher sells various tool carriers and vacuum sweepers in particular, including the Holder and MC series. In addition to the self-propelled vehicles, Kärcher produces numerous other products for the professional sector, including, for example, high-pressure cleaners and various vacuum cleaners.
Professionals in municipal technology - thanks to decades of experience in the field of outdoor cleaning, Kärcher knows exactly what is important. And you can see that in their vehicles: their municipal tool carriers are perfectly designed to meet the requirements of professional street and green space cleaning.
Thanks to their articulated steering, the vehicles are extremely maneuverable and can be moved precisely even in tight spaces. The rear axle follows the track of the front axle with 100% precision, making maneuvering and turning possible even in the tightest of spaces. Wheel load compensation, four equally sized tyres and permanent all-wheel drive ensure high driving stability and good traction even on difficult surfaces. This allows Kärcher tool carriers to provide maximum pulling and pushing power, even on slopes, and driving over high kerbs is no problem. A spring-loaded parking brake, similar to those found on trucks, ensures that the tool carrier can be safely parked even in difficult conditions. Thanks to the mechanical differential lock, it can also be used safely in extreme situations, e.g. in winter service or when driving across slopes.
Kärcher tool carriers are also popular due to their great versatility. Three attachment compartments, consisting of front and rear lift, as well as an attachment compartment for semi-mounted implements, ensure that the tool carrier can be equipped for any task. Thanks to the mechanical PTO shaft with constant power transmission, even large implements can be attached without any problems. The simple one-person mounting is ideal for quickly switching between different attachments. The electro-hydraulic implement relief ensures optimum traction and protects the ground and implements.
Kärcher tool carriers are primarily designed for municipal work. Their versatility is impressive: whether winter maintenance or grassland care, irrigation or sweeping, thanks to the quick change of attachments, various fields of work are possible. However, Kärcher machines are also used in industrial operations for cleaning and maintaining operational areas.
